1986年，英国周刊NME出版了一盘被称为C-86的磁带，这盘磁带的作品具有典型的：男女和声、寄情相思的歌词、颇具感染力的旋律和简单不矫揉造作的演奏。C-86的影响只持续了很短时间，但对后来的乐队影响甚大。大西洋两岸的后来者汲取了其中简约、纯朴的品质，从而演绎出更多绝妙的旋律。
